What amenities do the cottages have? All cottages have different amenities. Furnishings and fixtures will vary in quality and will be reflected in the rental rates. Please read our description very carefully. Some cottages have cable TV or satellite, some have nothing more than TV with a DVD player. Some cottages have internet access; some do not. Most cottages DO NOT have air conditioning, so please read the descriptions to find the right cottage to fit your needs.
What is included in the cottage? All of our rentals include toilet paper, Paper towels dishwashing soap, laundry detergent if needed , garbage bags, and cleaning equipment and supplies. If the cottage has a wood-burning appliance there will be a starter bundle of wood, matches and starters for winter use. BBQ's will have Propane. All our properties have fully-equipped kitchens including pots and pans, glassware and cutlery sufficient for the number of guests the cottage will accommodate. Check the individual listing for a list of amenities and small appliances.
How do we pay for the cottage? A deposit of 50% is required to hold the rental. We prefer interact payment from on-line banking. No CC as they chare us 5-6% (The balance is due on arrival) Security Deposit is taken (Security deposit will be refunded within 7 days of check-out)
Are pets allowed? Pet dogs are welcomed in some cottages. We do not allow cats or other animals. We ask dogs be on leash at all times when on our property, kept quiet, off our furniture and cleaned up after.
Do we have to clean the property? Cleaning services are very hard to find in cottage country so most owners will drive up from the city to undertake a changeover and make the property ready for their next guests. Since they will also have to do exterior maintenance and lawn mowing and time is limited, outgoing guests are usually required to leave a cottage in a clean and tidy condition and all necessary cleaning materials are provided. Where cleaning is included, or provided as an optional extra, this is shown on the individual listing.
What if there is an issue with the property? Small inconveniences can be expected. The Owner reserves the right to determine if the inconvenience necessitates immediate action. You will be provided a number to phone. If you have a life threatening emergency call 911 and provide the address.
Do we take a damage deposit.
Damage not reported to us; caused by pets, or additional cleaning that is required to return a cottage to an ‘as found’ condition will be charged to the credit card in accordance with our Terms and Conditions of Rental. Are they actually cottages? Many people think of a cottage as a rough cabin with poor heating and insulation, rustic feeling and maybe not even running water and a toilet. We call them cottages as this is what most people search for on the internet but most are all full season houses in the ski chalet style. Some were even full time residences at one time.
Why limits on the number of people? Most Cottage rentals are on septic tank and well water. No city services. While there is lots of water the well it is typically for a family of say 6-8 people. We also uphold great respect for our neighbors some who live year round. 12 people flushing and showering daily would likely cause issues.
Do we live in the cottages? No typically not but owners do use them.
How are they different? All our cottages are different and have different amenities varying from simple and rustic with real antiques to Modern. Many cottages DO NOT have air conditioning, so please read the descriptions to find the right cottage to fit your needs. If you have any questions relating to the amenities of a specific cottage, please call us. We do accept pet dogs only at all our properties.
Fires and fireworks We supply a fire area and the wood. Often there may be firebans for the area. You are responsible to follow the regulations and will be fined not us. No fireworks are allowed on or near our properties out of respect to our neighbors.
Smoking No smoking inside any of our properties including screened in porches. We provide ashtrays on our decks.
Snow Clearing During the winter, snow will be removed from driveways, and shoveled away from doors. We expect renters will pitch in as required. In most areas snow clearance is undertaken by private companies who have a pre-determined schedule of ploughing. After significant snowfall it may take a few hours before snow is cleared from all the cottage roads in the vicinity of a cottage. Our cottages are all near township roads which are cleared very quickly.
How are keys obtained? Most properties have a lock box on the entrance door. We provide the code to the lock box prior to your arrival.
Is WIFI available? WIFI is available at some cottages. We do not support it as we do not want calls that it is not functioning due to service provider interruptions or people having mobile phone or computer issues beyond our control.
